Click here to see a video recap from a recent S.J. Sharkie Read-In!
Each month S.J. Sharkie and San Jose Sharks staff will visit a minimum of two K-3rd grade classes for S.J. Sharkie Read-Ins!
This event typically lasts about one hour and occurs in the school library or the classroom. During this time, the staff will read four grade-appropriate books, with special help from the lovable San Jose Sharks mascot. Students have the chance to interact with S.J. Sharkie and some may even be called up to act out parts of the books. Everyone will love the antics that ensue once S.J. Sharkie enters the room! At the end of the Read-In, each class will have the opportunity to take a group picture with S.J. Sharkie and will be presented with a bag of books to be used in either the classroom or school library.
All K-3rd grade classrooms registered for Reading Is Cool are eligible to participate in the S.J. Sharkie Read-Ins and classrooms are selected at random. No requests for Read-Ins can be taken. To allow more participants the chance to interact with S.J. Sharkie and enjoy the stories he will share, we will make every effort to visit multiple classes at one time, but all classrooms must be registered for Reading Is Cool. Please know that the Read-In format works best with a smaller number of students in a more intimate setting and for this reason, we prefer to keep the total number of students to 60 or less.
