OVER 10,000 PEOPLE IN NEED

SAN JOSE
, Calif. – Hundreds of Sharks fans demonstrated their support for the local community when they participated in the Sharks Foundation's annual Holiday Food Drives at the home games on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11. Donations and proceeds benefitted Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Approximately 20 barrels of food and over $6,000 in monetary donations were collected during the pre-game drives. According to the Second Harvest Food Bank, this total will feed over 10,000 people in need this holiday season.

In exchange for their generosity, donors were entered into an in-game raffle for autographed Sharks merchandise. "Once again our fans displayed their giving spirit and helped us to exceed our giving totals from last year," said Sharks Foundation Coordinator, Kelly Esrey.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has been serving low income children, adults and seniors for nearly 35 years. Each year, they distribute more than 40 million pounds of food, serving approximately 207,000 individuals each month. The Holiday Food Drive is the largest single campaign organized by Second Harvest Food Bank. Each year more than 1,800 organizations participate, making it the largest food drive in the nation.
