The San Jose Sharks, KFOX 98.5 FM and KNBR 680 AM teamed up with Amici's East Coast Pizzeria in Cupertino on Thursday, February 25 to benefit local community organizations that enhance the lives of local youth.
Amici's donated their store sales from 3pm – 10pm, which totaled $4500. But given how much Amici's appreciated their customers attending this event and how much Amici's enjoyed having the Sharks attend this event, they decided to give $7000 more. The extra donation brought the total up to $11,500 --- beating last year's total of $10,000.
""The Cupertino event drew a great crowd,"" said Richard Allum, Director of Marketing for Amici's East Coast Pizzeria. ""Fans had the chance to meet almost every Sharks player not currently on Olympic duty, as well as 'The Voice', Dan Rusanowsky.
""As a result of the great support from Sharks fans, Amici's is thrilled to be able to make a donation of $11,500 to the Sharks Foundation as part of their on-going commitment to support programs that benefit Bay Area youth and the community as a whole,"" he continued. ""We are grateful to KNBR 680 and KFOX 98.5 as well as to the Sharks organization for helping to make the event so successful.""
San Jose Sharks players in attendance included Manny Malhotra, Jed Ortmeyer, Ryane Clowe, Niclas Wallin, Scott Nichol, Rob Blake, Brad Staubitz, Jay Leach, Kent Huskins, Torrey Mitchell and Devin Setoguchi. Also in attendance were S.J. Sharkie and Dan Rusanowsky. Between 4 - 6 PM, the players signed autographs, posed for pictures with fans and helped serve food to the patrons.
Sharks captain Rob Blake said "it was a great event; good to see so many fans out there supporting the Sharks foundation. I want to thank Amici's for their support and contribution."
The San Jose Sharks Organization would like to thank Amici's for all the support they have given to the Sharks Foundation.
The $11,500 will be going to the Sharks Foundation, which will then award grants to local community organizations that are dedicated to meeting the educational, social and cultural needs of our community, with a focus on health, education and character development for Santa Clara County Youth.
